OWLS - Oxhill Wild Life Society
OWLS - Oxhill Wildlife Society, was formed after district councils called for parish groups to help implement Local Biodiversity Action Plans (LBAP). The group, now numbering about 12, has been responsible for building and installing various bird boxes such as barn owl, little owl and kestrel. They have encouraged residents to build ponds and keep wildlife areas in their gardens, wildflower seeds have also been distributed to anyone wanting a wildflower area. They have worked closely with the PCC to create a beautiful wildlife area within the churchyard. As part of an education plan they invite varied wildlife experts to come and give talks in the Village Hall, and there is an emphasis on getting children involved.
