The South Doorway is now blocked off inside the Church
South Doorway
The South doorway on the far side of the church has some elaborate Norman carvings. The doorway is original although the round head has been rebuilt, and there are signs that there was originally a flood mould. The stones of the outer arch are zigzagged, and the face carved with circular flowers. The capitals of the columns are decorated with masks and foliage. Above the doorway is reset a length of corbel table, much weathered, with six human faces and one grotesque.
Sundial
A small circular sundial is scratched on a stone east of the priest's doorway.
Tower
The tower dates from the early fifteenth century. It once had crocketted pinnacles, but these were removed as unsafe when the tower was restored in 1980/81, and to date sufficient funds have not been available to replace them.
The Battlements
The battlements along the nave roof were added in 1876.
Slave's Grave
The Slave's Grave is near the priest's doorway too is the gravestone to Myrtilla, negro slave to Mr. Thomas Beauchamp.
